Junior Choir Program
Grades 3-8
Choir Sings: 3rd Sunday each month at 10:00am
The Junior Choir Program is a community music program sponsored by Pilgrim Lutheran Church . The choir is made up of student members and friends ages 8-13. Its musical selections range from classical to contemporary religious songs.
The Junior Choir is an integral and valued part of our worship service and church family. Participation provides an opportunity for children to grow spiritually and come together in fellowship with one another. Our Director of Music teaches every child proper vocal technique and the ability to read and understand music in a fun, kind, and collaborative setting. Every rehearsal our choir members play rhythm and ear training games that develop their musical abilities. Many of the choir members go on to be music leaders in High School and many have been music majors in college. The strong friendships formed in past choirs have lasted for decades!
In addition to monthly Sunday Services, performance opportunities include talent shows, mini-musicals, Christmas caroling, and the annual Holiday Singalong at Wolf Trap with the U.S. Marine Band “President’s Own.”
Singers with a background in instrumental playing are also encouraged to take part in our Instrumental Program.
The Junior Choir is well known for its musical productions. Past mini-musicals include The Sound of Music, Aladdin, and Annie. Past full-length musicals include Amal and the Night Visitors, Oh! Jonah, Moses and the Freedom Fanatics, Godspell Junior, For Such a Time as This, and American Ideal.

Do I need to be a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church for my child to participate?
No, we have children from the entire community that participate in the Junior Choir!
How many children are in the choir?
This varies from year-to-year. We currently average about 8-15 children each year, and have had Junior Choirs as large as 50.
Does my child have to audition?
Auditions are not required.
Is there a cost to join Pilgrim’s Junior Choir?
No, there is no absolutely no cost to join the Junior Choir. Donations to help fund the costs of the program are appreciated but by no means required.
